Bonding with Buddies:

From the hearts of our students:

Today we visited D.A.V Public School. When we arrived at the school, we were greeted with warm smiles and applause. Soon, we met our buddies, who then continued to be with us throughout the whole day. We joined the assembly with the rest of the school students. They had put up a great show to display their talents in the Aesthetics and also to welcome us. Towards the end of the welcome ceremony, they sang their national anthem. Right after that, Singapore’s national anthem was played. I thought that was a very warm gesture. I felt welcomed and was impressed by their respect for people across the globe.  After assembly, our buddies took us to their classes to let us experience the way they study and their daily routines. The lessons were very interesting and very interactive. Our buddies took us around the school for a tour and we became good friends. Our buddies made us feel at home. We felt that students from D.A.V school are very enthusiastic about learning and they do not hesitate to clear their doubts. I learned that we should clarify our doubts without being too self-conscious and we should not be pressured by our peers. Overall, it was a very new and enjoyable experience.

Today we headed to D.A.V Public school and were greeted with a warm reception. We joined in their morning assembly and enjoyed a great performance put up by the students. As I walked around the school compound, I learnt much from many meaningful quotes put up along the corridors. For classroom experience, I was impressed by the openness the students had during lessons. They were very eager to learn new things. For example, in many lessons, the students were very quick to respond to any question they were asked. My buddy was a very open boy who shared much with me even though I met him for the first time. Seeing the students so eager to learn in class, as well as during conversations, I realise that I must have the hunger to learn and experience more.

From the hearts of the students:

During the immersion programme, we played a friendly soccer match with our buddies. Punggol Secondary School was struggling to play in the sandy ground because we are used to playing in artifical field. We were losing and our buddies won the game eventually. Even though they won, they showed good sportsmanship and came over to us saying "Good game!".We also learnt Yoga with our buddies. Yoga is a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practised for health and relaxation in D.A.V School. I was so fascinated that a simple Yoga breathing technique really made me feel refreshed. From this experience, I gained more knowledge about Yoga and I hope to experience more activities like this.

Today was a very interesting day. We did more activities in the school like Yoga and Computer Science. This is a very unique  thing for us as we do not have such activities in school. One of the highlights in today's activities was the games at the end of the day. We learnt how to play 'Throw Ball' which is a game they play in India.  The instructions given were really easy to understand. Basically , it is a game where we have to throw the ball to our opponents. One game is over when the ball touches the ground. It was a different game and it was new to me. After 'Throw Ball', we taught them how to play 'Captain Ball'. Our buddies had not heard about 'Captain ball' before and were all very excited to learn a new game. From today's experience, I have learnt that the students in India are very enthusiastic and have an open mind for learning. I have learnt that only with an open mind for learning, we can learn more. The DAV experience has given me much knowledge to take home. Today has definitely been a really great experience for all of us.
